Liberty Firewood FAQ
Answers about our Clinton location, self-service firewood, pickup, delivery, measurements, moisture, kindling, commercial wood and the former Matt's Firewood name.
How long is your firewood cut?
Our standard firewood is cut to approximately 15 inches.
Where is Liberty Firewood located?
Liberty Firewood is located at 648 North Jackson, Clinton, Michigan 49236.
Do you have self-service firewood?
Yes. We have roadside self-service firewood bundles. The rack is cash only and uses a drop box.
Can I pick up a larger order?
Yes. Half face cords, face cords and larger quantities can be picked up by appointment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and Cash App for scheduled orders. The self-service rack is cash only. We do not accept checks, debit cards, credit cards or IOUs.
Do you sell kindling?
Yes. We sell premium soft maple kindling cut into approximately 12-inch fire starter sticks. It lights easy, burns clean and produces a great flame.
What is a face cord?
A face cord is one row of stacked firewood 4 feet high by 8 feet wide and one piece of firewood deep. The actual cubic volume depends on piece length.
What is a full cord?
A standard full cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked firewood.
Is your wood moisture checked?
Yes. We use a moisture meter to help ensure seasoned wood is ready to burn.
Do you deliver?
Yes. We deliver throughout Lenawee, Washtenaw, Jackson and Monroe counties, plus select areas of Wayne County. One face cord includes free delivery within 10 miles, two face cords within 20 miles, and a full-cord order of three face cords within 30 miles. Additional delivery is $1.00 per loaded mile.
Do you stack delivered firewood?
Yes. Optional stacking is available for $25 per face cord.
Is Liberty Firewood the same business as Matt's Firewood?
Yes. Longtime customers may remember the business as Matt's Firewood. The current name is Liberty Firewood.
Do you sell wood for restaurants and pizza ovens?
Yes. We offer commercial cooking wood for restaurants, pizza ovens, pizza trucks, food trucks and smokers, including specialty diameters for certain applications.
Do you buy logs?
Yes. We purchase hardwood logs in bulk from suitable local logging, tree service and tree trimming companies. Contact us about current needs.
Do you sell campfire wood?
Yes. We sell seasoned Michigan campfire wood and convenient firewood bundles for fire pits, camping, cabins, campgrounds and backyard fires. Oak, cherry, soft maple and mixed hardwood are available depending on current inventory.
What firewood species do you sell?
We sell oak, cherry, soft maple and mixed hardwood. Current face cord, half face cord and bundle prices are listed on our Firewood & Pricing page.
Do you offer retail or wholesale firewood supply?
Yes. Liberty Firewood works with retailers, restaurants and wholesale customers needing firewood bundles, kindling or recurring commercial cooking wood supply. Contact us for volume availability and wholesale pricing.
Do you sell green firewood?
Yes, when inventory is available. Green firewood may be offered at a slight discount for customers who want to stock up for a future season. Because green wood contains more moisture, it needs additional drying time before efficient burning.
What is the difference between green and seasoned firewood?
Seasoned firewood has had time to dry and is better suited for burning now. Green firewood contains more moisture and is intended for customers who can stack it properly and allow additional drying time. Drying time varies by species, piece size, airflow, weather and starting moisture.
What is a Campfire Pack?
A Campfire Pack includes one firewood bundle of your choice plus a 0.75 cubic foot mesh bag of premium soft maple kindling. Ask about current pack pricing and availability.
Do you deliver firewood to Airbnb, cabins or lake houses?
Yes. We can schedule firewood delivery for Airbnb hosts, vacation rentals, cabins and lake houses within our delivery area, subject to order size, distance and availability.
Do you sell smoking wood or custom-cut wood?
Yes. We offer oak, cherry and soft maple for BBQ smokers, pizza ovens and live-fire cooking. Custom cuts and specialty sizing may be available by special order depending on species, quantity and current production.

Camper Special & Storage
What is the Camper Special?
The Camper Special is our $17 campfire package with one bundle of seasoned oak firewood and one 0.75 cubic foot mesh bag of Premium Soft Maple Kindling. Upgrade the oak bundle to cherry for $1 more. It is named after Henry, our 1971 Ford F-250 Camper Special, whose photo and story are featured on our Firewood & Pricing page.
Do you sell firewood or kindling storage containers?
Yes. We offer 30-gallon barrels with removable lids that work well for storing kindling, campfire wood and smaller quantities of firewood in an appropriate dry storage area. Contact us for availability and pricing.
Do seniors receive a stacking discount?
Yes. Standard stacking is $25 per face cord. Senior citizen stacking is $15 per face cord.

Smokeless Fire Pits & Oak Full Cord Special
Why is my smokeless fire pit still smoking?
One possible cause is firewood that is too long or too large for the burn chamber. Oversized pieces can crowd the pit or sit too high for ideal airflow. Liberty Firewood offers short-cut seasoned hardwood chunks for smaller smokeless fire pits.
Do you offer shorter firewood for smokeless fire pits?
Yes. We offer custom-cut smokeless fire pit chunks by request. Species availability may include oak, cherry, soft maple and mixed hardwood.
What is the oak full cord special?
One full cord of seasoned oak is $525 delivered and stacked within 30 miles of Liberty Firewood in Clinton, Michigan. The package saves $30 compared with regular oak pricing and standard stacking.
