What Is a Face Cord?
A face cord is one row of stacked firewood measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet wide and one piece of firewood deep. Because the depth is based on the length of each piece, the actual cubic volume of a face cord changes with log length.
After years of customer feedback, we found that 16-inch firewood can be too long for many smaller wood stoves, fireplaces and inserts. For that reason, our standard firewood is cut to approximately 15 inches, making it more versatile and easier to use in a wider range of appliances. A face cord is stacked 4 feet high by 8 feet long by one piece of firewood deep. Because our pieces are approximately 15 inches long, full cords are measured separately by total volume to ensure you receive a true 128 cubic feet of firewood.

What Is a Full Cord?
A standard full cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked firewood. It is traditionally described as a stack 4 feet high by 8 feet wide by 4 feet deep. Because our standard pieces are about 15 inches long, a true full cord is slightly more than three 15-inch-deep face-cord rows.
Why We Use Measuring Racks
We use custom racks to keep quantities consistent. That means no eyeballing and no vague "truck load" measurements. You should know what you are paying for before the wood leaves our property.
