Some customers prefer to purchase green firewood ahead of the heating season, stack it themselves and allow it to dry over time. When green wood is available, the lower price can make sense for customers with enough storage space and no need to burn the wood immediately.

Green wood is not a shortcut for wood you need tonight. It should be stored with good airflow, raised off the ground and protected from direct rain while the sides remain open to ventilation.

How Long Does It Take?

There is no single correct number. Drying time depends on the wood species, how large the pieces are, when they were split, starting moisture, airflow, sun exposure and weather.

Plan ahead instead of relying on a fixed calendar date.
